Looking Forward To Another Tomorrow...

Hello my little advocates!  It's been awhile.  I am so sorry for the delay; but, I've had to take this past week to think about me....remember what I keep telling you to do too?

At this very moment, your blogster is setting plans for forward-moving with life, work and love.  As you all know, I am a driven, ambitious blogster who wishes for all those around him to succeed at everything.  If you don't, nor have I.

What plans are you thinking about?
  1. Volunteering for Aid for AIDS of Nevada (or, if you don't live in Nevada your own AIDS charity)
  2. Going to the gym to get the negativity "worked out" of your body
  3. Sitting there, thinking about all the negatives and getting depressed
I like number 1 and number 2.  I think they are a great fit for YOU....all of YOU.  If it isn't charity for AIDS work, do it for the environment.  Do it for Japan quake victims.  Just do it.

As for the gym, it IS true that when you work out, you are happier, less stressed and more ambitious than ever.

Below I've listed a few websites you might want to look at for more ideas:

raisingmalawi.org     afanlv.org     amfar.org

saveourenvironment.org      nphy.org     thecenterlv.org

MY new favorite (next to afanlv.org):  dabtheaidsbearproject.com

Those are just a few.  If you need more ideas, let me know.  Comment.  I will respond.  Remember, becoming more involved helps dissolve anxiety issues and depression issues.

Your little blogster,

Kavin

My Fair Lady And Living Positively

The rain in Spain happens mostly in the plains....or whatever it is.......

Doesn't this movie make you smile?  It makes me smile and makes me love life.  I also love Priscilla, Queen of the Desert....it all starts out so sad; but, somewhere in the middle, something great happens....love and life.

When you are down, pick up your favorite movie, book, cd.....anything that reminds you good times.  The bad times will subside.  Remember, what goes down must come up at some point.  Don't let the down keep you down.

Love YOUR life and, as my partner said the other day, pretend you are on the airplane and the oxygen masks drop down...."put your mask on so that you may better assist others."

The perfect metaphor for life, eh?

A Day to Celebrate with AFAN!

With Downtown Fremont Street as a backdrop, the AFAN AIDS WALK went off to a great big bang, with over 8,000 people participating to help the 3500+ people living in Las Vegas with HIV/AIDS.  From entertainers like Hal Sparks (Queer As Folk), the Jersey Boys and the Grand Marshals of the AIDS WALK for the 10th consecutive year, Penn & Teller, it was definitely the place to be!

I met Angel Porrino from Holly's World (also Holly's understudy from Peepshow) and I saw Lara Croft from Holly's World.  I was a bit confused by their team tees, which read "TEAM TOILET" but, hey, it was a day to have fun.  Angel, herself, is such a nice person.  Too bad the girls (that no one knew) around her were so rude.  I was confused because of their cast mate, Josh Strickland, had named his team Strickly Strollin'.  One would think Lara and Angel would have been on his team.  Perhaps he wasn't enthused with the Toilet Team motif.  Who knows?

Yours truly had his name called out on stage.  Number 6 fundraiser out of 8,000!  Next year, we shoot for Number 1.  The walk was a bit challenging, with myself, Yitzee, Oscar and Dab the Aids Bear courtesy of dabtheaidsbearproject.com and Dab Garner of Wilton Manors, Florida.

Gene, my partner, could not make it as our wonderful friend was hospitalized and Gene needed to be with him.  Thank you all for your thoughts on my facebook page.  Now, on to "Country Strong," which is actually good!

Therapy and Remaining Positive in a Stubborn World

THERAPY:
(definition courtesy of dictionary.com)
–noun, plural -pies.
1.
the treatment of disease or disorders, as by some remedial, rehabilitating, or curative process: speech therapy.
2.
a curative power or quality.
4.
any act, hobby, task, program, etc., that relieves tension.
I went to my therapist today.  A wonderful woman.  She listens and gives me her feedback as to how I can improve my outlook on life, love and work.  I suggest everyone get a therapist to see at least once a month.  You don't have to have a disease.  Perhaps you just need someone outside your box to look at your life from another angle.   She helps me and encourages me to journal.  This blog is my journal.

For all of you that experience the worst of the worst, PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP BEING YOU.  Stay positive.  Stay strong.  You are right.  As Stacia Dickinson said, "Life is good."  As I responded, "Life is always good....its people that make it ugly."

If you need help with issues like this, please email me or comment.  I will help you in any way I know how.  There are resources out there to help you.

Your little blogster,

Kavin

When you can't say something positive.........

Get it off your chest and hope you don't get fired. =)

Thank you, Stacia, for reminding me....

On facebook recently, my good friend, Stacia, posted:  "Life is good."  My post back to her was:  "Life is always good...its people that make it ugly."

I hope any and all that see this blog see good things.  Please please don't let people bring you down with their attitudes, whether the attitude is snobbish, pretentious, racist, or, just plain "ugly".

It is them.  Not you.  Remember that.  This photo I took last year of a homeless lady.  I asked her if I could take her photo.  She asked, "But, why?"  I told her she was beautiful.  It made her day.  It made my day.  Isn't she beautiful?  Look at the life in her face.  Look at the love in her eyes.  Look at her happiness even in the midst of a terrible situation.  I admire you wherever you are!

Got my Sade tickets today, featuring John Legend.  I've ALWAYS wanted to see Sade in concert!  Now, if only Enya would go on tour.  Wouldn't that be amazing!

Speaking of amazing, I can't wait to see my #2 girl in the world, Kylie Minogue live at Caesars on May 22nd!  I sure hope she doesn't make me vote my #1 girl down (Madonna).  I don't see that happening but still.....it's KYLIE!

I'm going to add a poll to this one. VOTE VOTE VOTE

Support the Arts in Las Vegas!

Please visit Paco's blog.  It's amazing to say the least.  It focuses solely on the arts in Vegas, which is in dire need for attention to the Arts!

ABSINTHE! ABSINTHE! ABSINTHE! SHAMEFULLY AMAZING!

SIMPLY, SHAMEFULLY, AMAZING

Absinthe advertises itself as a cross between Cirque de Soleil meets Rocky Horror. I'd throw in a huge dose of Moulin Rouge.

The show is going to be a HUGE HIT. I only wish it would become a permanent show in Vegas!

From the skaters to the comedy to the balancing acts to the comedy to the obscenities to the comedy.

Absinthe, you have my recommendation and I will see you again very soon.

Lady Gaga "Born This Way" Video raises Gay Awareness!

I have to give her this. Lady Gaga raises awareness for LGBT Equality with this video. We must all remember, including Lady Gaga, the icon that started this awareness in 1983....MADONNA. I give this one 2 thumbs up though!

Kavin endorses Chris Giunchigliani for Mayor of Las Vegas!

After the debate of last week and the many "non-answers" from other candidates, I whole-heartedly support Chris Giunchigliani for Mayor of Las Vegas. Chris supports gay issues, which is extremely important in this progressive world we live in today. Now, if we could get Nevada to legalize gay marriage, think of the monetary BOOM Nevada would have! And, we need that $$$, right?
